Probate Estates

Should a client need to probate an estate, we can work through the nuances, facts and forms to settle the estate as expeditiously as possible.  Good estate planning ahead of time avoids the Probate Court unless the supervision of the court is purposely planned based on the realities of a client’s family.

International Estate Planning

 Our firm serves U.S. Citizens and Non-Citizens with Foreign Property.  If you are a United States citizen or have immigrated to the United States and own property here or abroad, you encounter unusual and unique challenges with your estate planning.  We can   provide services to managers, farmers, physicians, executives, professional athletes and other individuals.

 Certain planning tools are not available to Non-U.S. Citizens regarding gifting, estate taxes and more.  With proper planning, we can assist our clients with protecting the value of their property when they transfer it in the future.

Meet The Team

Dustin M. Hughes Esq.

From an early age Dustin recalls his father traveling and work internationally in addition to his father’s stateside working.  Upon graduating with his undergraduate degree in Global Economics and International Business, Dustin took a position with the Japanese firm, Nippon Express USA.  It was there he really began to appreciate international planning, teamwork and others.  

The principal focus of his estate planning practice is mid to high networth clients, including physicians, university leaders, business owners, executives and managers of multinational companies. 

Since a chief focus of Hughes Law is on Elder Law as a special subset of Estate Planning, Dustin has the opportunity to assist aging clients and their families navigate the difficult waters associated with this season.

Dustin’s professional affiliations include the Ohio State Bar Association (Trust and Probate Section), the American Bar Association (Estates Section), the Christian Legal Society, the International Bar Association (Private Tax and Client Section, African Regional Section) and the Kenyan Law Society.

Dustin grew up outside London, Ohio, the second of eight children.  He graduated from Cedarville University in 1997 and the University of Dayton School of Law in 2009.  He and his wife Mindy after losing one child were blessed with quadruplets.  They currently reside in South Charleston, Ohio between Columbus and Dayton, Ohio.  His office is located in Springfield, Ohio a short drive from Marysville, Columbus and Dayton.

The Hughes family enjoys building relationships with people.  Additionally, they enjoy the outdoors, traveling, serving in their local church, games and raising ducks.

Staff

SHIRLEY MILLER

In 1988 Shirley earned an Associate Degree in Medical Secretary from Clark State, beginning her career as an ER Medical Transcriptionist and later as a Pathology Transcriptionist. After a transferred to Shared Services Department as the Controller’s Secretary, the hospital department transformed into a new company, housing the finance, accounting, and administrative parent departments for two hospitals and several nursing homes. A great opportunity to be part of a new company, she continued to hone her secretarial skills with the advancement of computer technology. She also assisted accountants with bank reconciliation and created/edited the company’s newsletter. At Hughes Law, Shirley worked as a Legal Assistant for 12 years, learning the importance of good Estate Planning, especially if probate is warranted. She now is the Estate Case Manager, helping fiduciaries with the complexity of Probate Estates. Shirley has been married for over 37 years and has two grown children and two grandchildren.

Brenna is a committed Legal Assistant who brings uplifting energy and genuine care she pours into every task. With a naturally positive presence and a thoughtful, grounded outlook shaped by her faith, she brings clarity and calm to even the busiest days. She loves good food and is always on the lookout for new flavours to discover. When she’s not exploring culinary gems, you’ll likely find her in a quiet, serene space—soaking in solace, recharging, and appreciating the peace that inspires her

YLLANA JANE SAMPLIDAN

Yllana is a dedicated Legal Assistant known for her precision, reliability, and ability to keep complex legal workflows running smoothly. With a strong background in executive support and client communication, she brings sharp attention to detail and a calm, solutions-first approach that keeps the firm steps ahead. She is a daughter, sister, and auntie, she fuels her days with good coffee, spontaneous travel, and an undeniable love for cats. If there’s a cat in the room, she’s already made friends with it. Yes, even the mean ones.

AMYA DUDLEY

Amya is a new legal assistant at Hughes Law. She’s hardworking, observant, and known for her warm presence and genuine smile. She’s great at handling tasks and managing her responsibilities. In the office, she processes and organizes each client’s legal documents with care. She loves traveling, shopping, cooking, being with kids, and learning new languages. Amya is always up for an adventure and enjoys discovering new things wherever she goes
